Võru Theatreatelier is working as a structural part of the Võru Culture House.
Artistic leader stage director Taago Tubin (b. 1971).
Theatre represents a poetic style, combined with music and lighting as important components, and often uses south – estonian (võru) dialect. The basic troup consists of amateurs, but every production engages also different theatreprofessionals.
Three performances (“One Times One” 1999, “The Barnpriest” 2001 and „Ennola“ 2003) have been awarded with grand prix of republican amateur theatre festivals.
Theatre has also an experimental dramastudio, based mainly on technics of contact-improvisation and action-theatre. The Võru Dramastudio has been awarded with grand prix of republican studio theatre festival (perf. “Blown – up Vibrations”, 2003)
